  • Lauren Brent

    Role: Vice President

    Works for: Hatherly Loughnan

I became a member of Canterbury Young Professionals with the objective of getting an early bird ticket to the annual ball. I soon realised that CYP had a lot more to offer than the chance to get dressed up for an evening! I joined the CYP Social Committee at the beginning of 2017 and since then have loved the opportunity to meet people both outside and within my own profession. I am excited to be involved in organising events which appeal to all our members and to continue to grow CYP by offering young professionals both local and new to Christchurch the opportunity to get involved and have some fun.
Outside of CYP, I am an Associate at Hatherly Loughnan Lawyers.

    Works for: AstraZeneca

Originally from the UK, I came to NZ on a working holiday in 2014 and instantly became hooked on mountains, L&P, and pineapple lumps. I moved to Christchurch in 2015 after a short stint as a Hobbiton tour guide (yes you read that right) and began working as a respiratory sales representative for AstraZeneca in early 2016. Being alone on the road a lot CYP has been a great place for meeting like-minded people and I look forward to being more involved this year on the committee. If you see me don’t be shy, come say hello!

  • Scott Keene

    Role: Treasurer

    Works for: PKF

I joined CYP for the opportunity to engage with other like-minded business professionals. My role as treasurer is to administer and manage the financial assets and liabilities of the incorporated society. The need to manage funds sustainably, along with  promoting growth are the key levers of the treasurer role. My background lies in business advisory where I have worked with a number of small to medium sized businesses. I’m currently working as the Tax and Compliance Accountant at House of Travel. When not working I like to spend time being active, going to the gym, F45 and running. While no longer playing rugby, I still watch as much as I can and I’m always happy to chat about the weekend's games, even if the Crusaders haven't won!

    Role: Communications

    Works for: Anderson Lloyd Lawyers

Fresh out of Otago, I moved to Christchurch just over a year ago, and was looking for ways to get involved in the local community and meet some interesting people. CYP offered a chance to meet people from all over the region and get to know the people that make this city so great. I decided to come on board the 2018 Committee as the Communications Executive to make sure that other young people across the city knew about all of the exciting opportunities that CYP can provide, whether they are starting out in a new career, new city or simply want to get out there and do something a bit different.
When I'm not hunting down the latest and greatest ways to enjoy the region, I'm a lawyer at Anderson Lloyd.

    Role: General Committee

    Works for: Tait Communications

Having moved to Christchurch from the UK in 2017, I was keen to find out more about what activities are going on in Christchurch, as well as meet interesting and like-minded people. CYP has been a great way to do both! I decided to join the social committee so that I could take a more active role in welcoming people who, like me, are still trying to find their feet in a new city. Outside of CYP, I work in Human Resources at Tait Communications.
